Going with the Irish here...like the fact that both Irish QBs will see gametime today.

Besides...it's about time they won a bowl game AND against an SEC team at that. :yahoo:

Should be a good game in my opinion.

8 plus hr drive? :bullshit: SB to Nashville is 6.5 hrs. Driven it many times. It is the same distance from where I currently am. 8 hrs would put you almost to Atlanta or into central AL.

Yeah ... well me & bros took a few 'pitstops'. :suds:

Music City Bowl by the Numbers ...

No. 22 LSU (8-4) vs. Notre Dame (7-5)
2 p.m. Dec. 30 (ESPN)
LP Field, Nashville, Tenn.

0 Previous games played on Dec. 30 by Notre Dame. LSU has played three times on the next-to-last day of the year, beating Florida in the 1968 Peach Bowl and Miami (Fla.) in the 2005 Peach Bowl and losing to Tennessee in the 1972 Bluebonnet Bowl.

1 Music City Bowl did not include an SEC team -- Virginia's 34-31 victory over Minnesota in the 2005 game. The SEC has a 7-8 record in the Music City Bowl.

1 Notre Dame coach has taken the Fighting Irish bowling in each of his first five seasons - current coach Brian Kelly, who is in his fifth season. Notre Dame did not accept bowl invitations from the 1925 through the 1968 seasons.

1 Previous game in Nashville for Notre Dame - a 14-7 victory over Vanderbilt in 1996. LSU has an 11-5 record when visiting Vanderbilt, most recently taking a 27-3 victory in Nashville in 2010.

2 Losses in 47 games against non-SEC teams for LSU under coach Les Miles. The Tigers lost to Penn State 19-17 in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1, 2010, and to Clemson 25-24 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31, 2012.

3 Victories without a loss in NFL stadiums for Notre Dame this season. The Fighting Irish beat Purdue at the home of the Indianapolis Colts, Syracuse at the home of the New York Giants and Jets and Navy at the home of the Washington Redskins. LP Field is the home field of the Tennessee Titans.

4 Consecutive losses for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish haven't won since beating Navy 49-39 on Nov. 1. Since then, they've lost to Arizona State, Northwestern, Louisville and Southern Cal. Notre Dame most recently closed the season with five consecutive losses in 1963.

6 Victories in nine bowls at LSU for coach Les Miles. Miles is one behind Charley McLendon for the most bowl victories in school history. McLendon won seven of 13 bowls as LSU's coach from 1962 through 1979.

6 LSU players have won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the SEC's outstanding blocker, with OT La'el
Collins earning the honor this season. LSU's other Jacobs winners have been QB/FB Bill May in 1936, FB/HB J.W. Brodnax in 1958, OT Robert Dugas in 1978, G Alan Faneca in 1997 and OT Ciron Black in 2009. Collins also received the Charles McClendon Award as LSU's MVP at the annual team banquet, becoming the first offensive lineman to be presented with the award.

6 Previous games played on Tuesday by LSU. The Tigers have a 3-3 record when playing on Tuesday.

7 LSU QBs have rushed for at least 100 yards in a game, including current signal-caller Anthony Jennings, who ran for 119 against Texas A&M on Nov. 27. None of the other six ever had another 100-yard rushing game.

10 Previous games between LSU and Notre Dame, with each owning five victories. The teams' most recent meeting came in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 3, 2007 - a 41-14 LSU victory. LSU also won their only other bowl meeting, taking a 27-9 victory in 1997 in another Louisiana-based bowl - the Independence. At least one of the teams has been ranked for every LSU-Notre Dame game.

14 TD receptions by Notre Dame WR Will Fuller this season, one short of the school record set by Jeff Samardzija in 2005 and matched by Rhema McKnight in 2006 and Golden Tate in 2009.

15 Consecutive seasons with a bowl appearance for LSU, the longest streak in school history by 10 years.
The Tigers have a 23-21-1 bowl record.

16 Victories and 17 losses in bowl games for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish's bowl ledger includes a 3-4 record against SEC opponents.

24 Victories for LSU in the 48 games in which the Tigers have trailed in the fourth quarter since Les Miles became the coach in 2005. During that span, the next-best record in the nation in games with a fourth-quarter deficit belongs to Florida State at 19-37. In five seasons under coach Brian Kelly, Notre Dame has a 33-4 record when it holds the lead entering the fourth quarter.

25 Consecutive passes completed by Notre Dame QB Everett Golson in the Fighting Irish's victory over Syracuse on Sept. 27, the longest completion streak in school history by 11.

32 Victories and 15 losses for Notre Dame against SEC opponents. The Fighting Irish have played two games in the past nine seasons against SEC teams, losing 41-14 to LSU in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 3, 2007, and 42-14 to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 7, 2013.

64 Fewer yards per game given up by LSU in the final six games of the regular season than the Tigers
yielded during the first six games of 2014, even though the second half of the schedule included only SEC opponents and the first half included non-conference foes Sam Houston State, Louisiana-Monroe and New Mexico State. Kendell Beckwith became LSU's starting linebacker in the seventh game of the season. Before he joined the lineup, LSU was yielding an average of 338 yards per game. Since Game 7, the Tigers are giving up 274 yards per game.

98.7 Passer rating for opposing players against LSU this season, giving the Tigers' defense the lowest such figure in the nation.

891 Rushing yards for LSU RB Leonard Fournette, the third-highest total for a freshman in school history. Justin Vincent set the freshman rushing record with 1,001 yards in 2003, and Dalton Hilliard ran for 901 yards in 1982.
