Game Time: 10:00pm EST/7:00pm PST - FS-West

KINGS (15-6-3) at CANUCKS (12-9-4)

TV: FS-W, SNET-P

Last 10: Los Angeles 6-1-3; Vancouver 3-4-3

Season series: This is the second of five meetings between the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks. The Kings cruised to a 5-1 victory against the Canucks on Nov. 9 at Staples Center.

Big story: Los Angeles is winless in its past two games, but it has earned at least one point in nine straight (6-0-3) despite the loss of No. 1 goaltender Jonathan Quick, who is out with a groin injury. Vancouver, meanwhile, has won once in its past seven games (1-4-2). The Canucks have scored more than two goals once in that span.

Team Scope:

Kings: Los Angeles received another solid performance from goalie Ben Scrivens (32 saves), but the Kings lost their second in a row when Jamie McGinn scored 2:32 into overtime to lift the Colorado Avalanche to a 1-0 victory at Staples Center. Los Angeles was awarded four power plays in the game, but mustered 19 shots against Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov.

"We had a pretty good first period," Kings forward Anze Kopitar said. "In the second period, we got outplayed. The third period was back and forth. We were good on the penalty kill, and have to create a bit more on the power play. In overtime, it was just a tough bounce."

Canucks: Vancouver's offense continues to struggle. The Canucks have scored 65 goals in 25 games and only scored during a two-man advantage in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks at Rogers Arena on Saturday. Corey Crawford stopped 36 of 37 shots for the Blackhawks, who scored two goals in nine seconds early in the third period to erase Vancouver's 1-0 lead.

"We beat ourselves, and teams like Chicago will capitalize," Canucks coach John Tortorella said. "We kill a penalty, we get our guy on the ice and we throw the puck away [and it] ends up in our net. We run how we forecheck off a faceoff every time, [but] we decide to go off the map and we give up an odd-man rush [and] it's in our net. We played a good hockey game, but we beat ourselves in those few seconds."

Who's hot: Scrivens hasn't allowed more than two goals in his past six starts. He has a 1.15 goals-against average and .955 save percentage over that span. … Canucks forward Ryan Kesler has a goal and two assists in his past four games.

Injury report: Besides Quick, the Kings are also expected to be without defenseman Matt Greene (upper body) and forwards Jeff Carter (broken foot) and Trevor Lewis (lower body). … Vancouver will be without forward Jordan Schroeder (ankle).

Freaking Lewis now too? This crap has GOT to stop.

The Kings have been fortunate in recent years on the injury front but ultimately these will catch up to you. Carter's return is absolutely paramount, the offense looks pretty dull without his shot and his speed.

On a side note, everyone's favorite bitchboy Regehr has been nothing short of phenomenal the last few weeks. He looks like the Regehr of old who was destroying people for Calgary during their 2004 Cup run.

I think Jeff Carter's coming back tonight, I read something last night about that, so that will certainly help - I think you'll see Brownie, Kopi and J-Will together on the 1st line and then Dwight King with Richie and Carts on the second line

Today would be day 25 and game 11 so LTIR would be complete. I never saw that they placed him on that but it could be the case.

Pretty sure Carter was not put on LTIR and just IR. Greene is definitely on LTIR because the Kings need space being so capped out and possibly making more moves. Quick has not yet been placed on LTIR but Dumbo said that was his intent; at a $5.8 million hit that would be a good idea considering how much of the season he will miss.

Keep in mind that on LTIR the allowed cap overage is not the full player's cap hit, it's a formula based on what that team's cap was the day the player got put on LTIR. For example, if the Kings have a $72 million hit on a $75 million cap and Carter is making his $5.272 million, the actual overage amount would be $72 million (Kings' payroll the day Carter was put on LTIR) + $5.272 million (Carter's hit) - $75 million (NHL team cap) or only $2.272 million. With Greene and his $2.95 million the Kings have very little space based on the formula but Dumbo is looking for any type of cap relief.

Also found this article on Martin Jones, who's old man is a supervisor of construction at Rogers Arena in Vancouver:

L.A. Kings? backup goalie savours North Vancouver connection

It'll be a real proud moment for his dad tonight.

You should be ashamed of yourself
Turn in your Bruins hat and think about what you have just said

Pretty sure he dislikes the Kings more than he likes Vanloser.

I say cheer them on, that donkey dick franchise needs as much help as they can get.

This has been a disgusting game by the refs. Just letting the Canucks run around and try and take cheap shots.
