Seems a lot of media reports are saying that the USC coaching gig is going to go to Steve Sarkissian, thus ending any talk of Ed Orgeron staying on as HC. I think Orgeron will stay on staff, most likely the DC.

A little bit surprising, given the names being thrown about, but I heard Chris Pederson turned them down, who knows with Del Rio or Franklin. Also, a bit surprising that Haden would go back to the Pete Carroll coaching tree, given the history.

IMO, USC could have done a lot worse. Not a WOW candidate, but a good all around coach, who took a bad Washington program and at least returned some respectability to it, and he's a good recruiter, but honestly, how hard is it to recruit at USC.

I heard some rumbling that he was going to get one more year at UW before he was on the outs. They said he under peformed this year with talent they had and UW had higher expextations.

He's been hired at USC, not sure about it honestly. I don't think he's been that impressive at Washington.

Crap, I really wanted Orgeron to get the job. Hopefully Ed left the school with one or two recruiting violations still to be uncovered. Ed is the gift that keeps on giving. I am sorry to see him go.

I think Sarkissian is a good coach and will bring USC back to relevance. I like what he did for Washington....in my honest opinion he did what he could with them. Washington will never have the talent to compete in the pac12 no matter who the coach is.

I don't know about never have the talent to compete, they have to start by putting a fence up around Washington, any top prospect needs to be playing for them, and then they need to recruit California well, maybe even Arizona and Nevada too.

I disagree totally on the Huskies not being able to compete in PAC12. In late 80's and 90's that had great success two national tiltles and one undefeated season. Why can Oregon be so good and Huskies cannot?

Mixed reactions here in LA. Mostly because some view him as Kiffin 2.0. But even though they are good friends he's more personable more energetic and was a QB at BYU so he knows that position well.Carson Palmer and Matt Lienart credit him for their development so SC should be able to get good QBs from this area. Sad to see Ed go but he did such a good job you can't blame him to want his next gig to be as a head coach. Maybe a San Diego State type job would suit him.
As for me I'm cool with Sark. He was the one everyone wanted when Pete left but he knew it was gonna be some tough sledding. He's from the area so even though Ed was a great recruiter if Sark can get kids to leave LA and go to Washington then keeping them here wont be too hard.

Washington went 8-4 this year with wins over two teams with a winning record (Boise State and Arizona). I don't think he has accomplished that much at Washington. Face it, it's hard to look bad following Ty. I don't know how good Sarkasian will be, I was hoping for Orgeron, but there were a lot of names out there I would have been more worried about.

I"m not sold on the guy but USC should be fine, they have plenty of advantages and He will recruit well with a full complement of scholarships very soon.

I hope SC is happy. It certainly sounds like Washington is happy. I'm happy. Not as happy as I would have been had Orgeron had gotten the job, but happy.
