2 seasons in (most GP is 106 tho) thru age 26:

As a hitter:

210 GP
792 PA
710 AB
203 hits
41 doubles
7 triples
40 HR
123 RBI
70 BB
212 K's

.286/.351/.532 = .883 OPS
135 OPS+

As a pitcher:

4-2
3.31 ERA
1.161 WHIP
10 starts
5.1 IP per start
51 IP
38 hits
19 ER
22 walks
61 K's

missed 2019 as a pitcher, recovering form TJ, but served at their DH.

do you think he tries to kepe this 2 way stuff up, or do the angels pick a direction and make him stick? I think theres obviously more chance for damage as a pitcher (see one TJ already). the functions and repetitive motions of each action (hitting, pitching) are very different.

i think they keep him as a hitter FT eventually.

my guess is that they will try to keep him 2-way as long as his body can hold. so far, that is not looking very good but maybe he can stay healthy from here.

Health has been an issue with him. Since so many more things can go wrong with playing pitcher, let alone playing both pitcher AND DH. It's not as though the Angels are paying him that much, though they certainly paid through the nose to get him.

I agree he moves to hit full-time. But based on less risk over time, it wouldn't surprise me if he's just made to pitch until he's broken. The guy has the stuff of a #2 or #3 man in the rotation.

If being a starter doesn't workout he could be used a long reliever with his main role being a positional player/DH. He can still pitch, just not sure why you want to risk a worse injury...let him come out of the BP.

He really should just stick with ONE position... Hitter or Pitcher... It's stupid imo to have him doing both

He will remain two way for awhile. If they have trouble keeping him arm healthy I could see them using him as a two inning opener or 7th-8th inning set up guy. And if that doesnt work then he becomes hitter only.

I would love to see him keep doing both, but given the injury it wouldn't make much sense. I would just keep using him as a hitter and use him for relief appearances (and maybe spot starts). There's still a lot of value in that if he gives you 70+ good innings.

If he's committed to doing both, let him do both. Injury is the only thing stopping him. And he's had one.

I think we will be seeing more two-way players in the near future. Imagine the value of having guys who could pitch, play a position or two and hit.

Only pitching him on Sundays only is an interesting strategy. I guess you have to carry six starters tho? Or else you run the risk of your of some of your guys pitching on 4 days rest. But does that really matter in a shortened season? Will definitely want to see how they handle all the intricacies.

It sucks, but may just be time to strictly let him focus on hitting
