Rangers' Nomar Mazara: Slated to move to left field

Mazara will be moved to left field upon Shin-Soo Choo's return from the DL, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

He is out of the lineup Wednesday against lefty Rich Hill. The 21-year-old Mazara has been worth nearly a full win above replacement in 33 games with the Rangers, hitting .307/.357/.449 with five homers while providing stellar defense in the outfield. It was hard to fathom the possibility of a demotion for Mazara upon Choo's return given what he's done, and the team has now confirmed that he's not going anywhere. Ian Desmond has taken over in center field for Delino DeShields, who was optioned down last week.

Perez (1-4) pitched seven innings, allowing four runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out three in Wednesday's loss to the A's.

Wednesday's seven innings was his longest outing of the season. Perez gave up three runs in the first inning, allowing three singles and two walks. Perez was strong after the first inning, but the damage was already done. The left-hander has struggled to garner any run support this season, making it difficult to capitalize on a career-best 3.48 ERA.

I really loved this guy in 2013 which was an outlier year along with one other in 2005. Gave up 12 HRs in 63.1 IP last year.
