Can't advance a fumble, it goes back to the spot of the fumble.
It's not an advance......the ball went out of bounds through the endzone. Advancing a fumble is picking it up and running with it.

So why don't we see people fumble it out of bounds for a first down?
Some actually do. Just not always on purpose.
Let's say you need to get to the 3 for a first down......but you're not going to make it.......what's to stop a player from fumbling it forward from say the 5 across the pylon out of bounds to get it at the 1 as you suggest?
If you fumble in the EZ there are consequences........a touchback being one of them, a safety the other. Not sure what the problem with this rule is.
Running into the kicker.
Roughing the kicker.
It's fucking ridiculous.
Make it a 15 yard penalty or nothing at all.
Like they did that stupid face mask penalty incidental/personal foul.
They took care of that crap, it's time to do away with "running into the kicker".
What else is stupid AF

I thought it was because the ball goes back to the spot of the fumble, not where it goes out of bounds.
But it can go out of bounds and lose yards.
The issue is the defense never gained possession of the ball to get a touchback. It should be treated like any other fumble. If a defensive played gains possession of the ball in their endzone, then touchback is the obvious result. But if the defensive player doesn't gain possession, they shouldn't be given it.
I see it the opposite way.
WHY does the offense benefit from the fumble? They did nothing to KEEP it either. And the EZ is different from any other spot of the field.......there are consequences.
They keep the ball because they had original possession.
That's fucking retarded. If the defense never recovered the ball, they don't get the ball.In any other part of the field.......sure.
The EZ......nope. Consequences.
Your first one is stupid, refs are too incompetent for that. Young dudes who have every right to be pissed shouldn't be expected to just sit back and not show emotion when a ref fucks up.If you complain to an official, or throw your hands up in the air because you didn't get a PI call, it should be an Unsportmanlike conduct penalty.
Offensive PI should be a 10 yard penalty with loss of down.
Be pissed, but act like a man about it, not a child.Your first one is stupid, refs are too incompetent for that. Young dudes who have every right to be pissed shouldn't be expected to just sit back and not show emotion when a ref fucks up.
Love your second one.

That's not what his point of contention is. He's saying they shouldn't get the extra 5 yards or whatever that it rolls, before going out of bounds.
I see it the opposite way.

I don't think they do, nor should they.
Outside of the final 2 minutes in either half. If you fumble a ball forward, and it goes out of bounds. You absolutely, 100% get that yardage.
In college? Because you are talking about the holy roller rule, and I'm not sure if it's the same in college. I actually started to mention it in my original post, but then took it out because I remembered it was an NFL thing.
