Not to read too much into the tea leaves, but if this guy was innocent, why lawyer up? Why not go straight down to the police, offer up any evidence they want, especially given the imminency of the draft and a potential life-changing event?

Having said that, there may be a good reason why he's holding off. Who knows?

Ok first off thoughts and prayers to the woman's family that was murdered.

Wow this is a tough one for all involved. I hope and pray Collins was not involved in any way shape or form.

With that being said it is not in your own best interest to talk to the Police during an investigation unless you have an Attorney present and ready to sit down with you to help you answer questions. And no I am not paranoid it is just smart to have someone trained in what can and cannot be asked and answered when questioned by the "authorities". Being questioned by Police is serious business anything you say could be used against you in a court of law. And before some say "if your innocent you have nothing to hide" well that is not how it works in the legal system. If you are ever questioned you will then understand. Lots of innocent men imprisoned for years for crimes they were convicted of but did not commit are released everyday across the USA. Smart legal advice is to get all your "ducks" in a row then go in with Competent Legal Counsel and answer questions that your attorney says you can. $2000 for a couple of hours of an Attorneys time could be the best money you ever spent. Innocent until proven guilty is the way its supposed to work but sadly its not always the way it is.

This is not an indictment against the Police they have a very hard job to do. It is about protecting yourself against a legal system in which you the innocent sometimes must walk through the fire to prove your innocence. Sad deal for Collins however it is much better to lose millions of dollars and be free because of Solid legal advice than to possibly get locked up due to not having said legal advice even being innocent.

After Hernandez he may very well go undrafted. I just hope he is squeaky clean on this.

How do you gauge risk with this guy? If we get an extra second rounder, do we use it on him? Or a third? Hmmmm . . .
