Bernier to the Leafs for Frattin and Scrivens and a 2nd.
Kings did well on this one, methinks.

/no Luongo?

Kings got a player that (seemingly) fits in perfectly in a hard skating 3rd liner with some scoring touch, a cheap backup goalie option and a 2nd round pick.

I think Dean did well here, about as good as we could expect without another JJ-Carter trade landing in his lap

Scrivens is definitely a serviceable backup and I like Frattin as a 3rd line energy guy. The 2nd round pick is definitely more than just a throw-in, I also think the Kings did very well with this trade.

I really don't understand why Toronto felt they needed to make this move. Reimer proved to be a pretty darn good starter.

Really though...if there was a place they really didn't need a big fix, it was in goal. FOR ONCE they had a suitable option in net. Just odd.

The Leafs just created themselves a goalie controversy. The way Reimer has been treated at times, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to move him at some point next season.

The leafs now have a top tier tandem, that's for sure. And it's a very solid insurance policy against the Toronto media destroying Reimer. A minute from advancing and they don't? You can't put that on Reimer, but some will. If he can handle it - they are more than set in goal. If he can't Bernier is a really, REALLY good fall back. Kings got good pieces too. The rare "best for both teams" trade.

Best thing about it? He didn't wind up ruined in Philly. Now they almost HAVE to go after Louongo.

Wait a sec ... Kings get money too???

While the leafs will have to give the overhyped goalie overhyped dollars as an rfa plus they need to go to market to replace the 3rd line player they gave up ???

Lol

I kind of fail to see how Bernier is a more proven goalie than Reimer. If the Leafs had gone after an established veteran this would have made a lot more sense.

That said the Leafs didn't give up any core pieces. The Kings get some useful assets. Good deal for them.

this is fun

So Reimer loses the starting job and Phaneuf is on the trade market. The Elisha/April eye-rolls must be off the chart right now.

- Bernier has a career .912 SV% in 62 NHL games. Scrivens has a career .910 SV% in 32 NHL games.
- Not that I have anything against Bernier, but he lost his starting job at Spengler Cup to Devan Dubnyk

more lols

If Bernier is worth Frattin, Scrivens and a second, then Luongo is worth Parise, Brodin, a first, a night with Kate Upton and a talking dog.

I believe that Philadelphia and another team were hard in the mix as well at the end along with Toronto. Flyers offering Matt Read...
