State College native and Penn State receiver Alex Kenney will forgo his final season of eligibility with the football team and pursue another passion as he joins Penn State's track and field squad following the conclusion of the football season officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Kenney, is currently on schedule for early graduation following which he plans to begin graduate classes. Penn State coach Bill O'Brien noted at his Tuesday press conference that Kenney would be honored this weekend as part of the team's senior day ceremonies.
While a member of the football team Kenney saw limited action but pulled down 20 receptions for 197 yards in his career.
