A&M QB Mond: Aggies can make LSU-esque leap

We really haven't won the big-time games yet," Mond told The Dallas Morning News for a story published Friday. "In some of those games, most of those games, we've been close, but we always fall short. But we have to be able to get over that hump.

The Aggies are coming off an 8-5 season in which they lost to Clemson, Alabama and LSU by double digits when each was ranked No. 1.

A season ago.
Texas A&M's Kellen Mond: I'm the best QB in the SEC

In my opinion I'm the best one," Mond said of the SEC's returning quarterbacks. "That's not just because I'm a confident person. I actually believe that."
Stats vs LSU against a ‘bad LSU defense’.

91 yards, 0 touchdowns, 3 picks

You do you Kellen!

It wouldn't be a season if it wasn't for "this is the year the Aggies turn the corner"

Up there with Texas and Michigan.
Is there another one that has underperformed more than those three have the last 10-15 years?

Bart Simpson maybe? :noidea:

Even Missouri had a winning record against A&M in the 2010s

Mond is the one holding them back.
I guess that's hard to see on your back.

I am speaking from as far as an objective standpoint as I can as an LSU fan. Comparing his potential jump to Burrow is laughable. Burrow had the talent and with the new system, time to get on the same page as his teammates allowed Joe to be successful. What is changing at A&M that would make anyone believe there will be this major jump? Same offense, same players, same plays. Nothing leads me to believe in any type of incredible season.

I was also thinking Miami.

Miami is a small, private university. When they started insisting on taking players that could read, the writing was on the wall for a decline.

It's easier for Florida and Florida State to land the top in state recruits despite the majority of them playing in south Florida.

Hell, some of the top Georgia recruits have came out of the Miami area for years.

IIRC, in the CFP era, Miami has had the 7th most players drafted. It may not be 7th but I'm sure it was in the top 10. Florida, Michigan and Miami are in the top 10 in the CFP era and none have sniffed the playoffs.

Miami came close that one year. Had they won the ACC championship game, they would have been in as a one loss conference champ, but Clemson took their lunch money and then some in said CCG.

Miami still pulls out top 15 classes pretty regularly

considering who they play each year, it's hard to argue that they haven't underachieved since 2005
