Justin Smoak's dWAR since coming to Seattle:
2010: -0.4
2011: -0.9
2012: -0.8
2013: -1.5
2014: -0.5

He is hitting .225 with a .299 OBP. Smoak is in the bottom 5 of starting 1Bs in MLB. The saddest part is that the Mariners OF, SS and DH positions have arguably been worse and deserve priority over replacing Smoak.

yep

massive deficiencies all around offensively. the myth of smoak's amazing defense is baffling from otherwise knowledgeable fans like NW.

it's not just a couple of pieces, it's lots.

some of the kids may just need more MLB at bats, but there's no way that the most of the likes of smoak, ackley, miller, and even seager shouldn't be seen as upgradable by a front office hoping to build a team that can contend perennially.

lol, i can only imagine the idiocy of wazzu's posts, since i have the dumbass on ignore after claiming that armstrong's a better front office guy than larussa could ever be. that's just the tip of the iceberg, too. he's second only to polarvortex when it comes to knowing nothing.

That one-hitter last night was kinda ugly. Montgomery wasn't all that good. He couldn't locate his fastball for shit. Padre hitters were way too impatient, hitting way too early in the count.

Don't even get me started.

Oh for the good ole days of Tony Jr. and Brian Giles working counts. Hell, Chris Denorfia even!

Sorry, but this...

Justin Smoak, from the other side of the plate, hits his second of day, monster mash into fourth deck. #BlueJays up 8-0 B3

Justin Smoak now has 24 RBIs. That ties him with Cano and has way fewer ABs

Smoak has 7 HRs in 132 PAs this year.

That matches his total last year in 276 PAs for the Mariners.

In addition, his BA is 44 points higher (a career high), his OBP is 66 points higher (a career high) and his slugging percentage is 165 points higher (a career high). Put that all together and his OPS is 231 points higher than last year, which is, yup you guess it! A career high.

What is it with this god damn team and hitters?

I can only think there is something, someone in this organization that is having a negative influence on these hitters, it's just unexplainable. Ackley will do the same fuckin' thing next year

Fire erryone!
