"The Jason Kubel Era in the Valley officially came to end Thursday night.
According to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert, the Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to ship the veteran outfielder to the Cleveland Indians for cash and a minor leaguer to be named as early as Friday."

We win. :laugh3:

Thank god he's finally gone!

Unless that PTBNL is somehow Eric Byrnes, we win this trade.

Kubel is one of those guys that appears to suck... Then just as you dismiss him he goes on a tear...

Well, he looked completely lost this entire season and dating back to last year's All Star Break his numbers have been absolutely atrocious. If he's going to turn it around it won't be in Arizona... it was his time to go. (Just like Kennedy)

If he is holding a roster spot that can be better used... I agree... If they get anything of value for him... Even better

Kevin Towers just used the cash to buy a hot dog and a drink from the soda machine.

I just read this on MLBTR before I came here. I think the initial report is a little off, I think it's Kubel + cash for a PTBNL. It doesn't make sense the other way around.

Yeah, that does seem odd. It'll probably be 1mil. to pay for Kubel's buy out that they would've had to pay for anyways. But if we are somehow actually getting cash then I mean... I'll take it.

What would really be odd is if the PTBNL was Bauer...

The Dbacks clear $2 mil in salary & receive a fringe prospect. Sounds good to me.

Indians are clearly desperate.

"and pay all but $200K of the remaining $2.27MM owed"

I need to comprehend what I am reading better...

So the Dbacks are sending $2mil.

Not sure they are "sending" it to Cleveland rather than "paying" it to Kubel whom they owe it to.
