Joe Davis took 7th in the pole vault and Hasheem Halim took 4th in the triple jump... Tech is in 2nd place overall now.

Here's the situation headed into tomorrow ladies and gents:

It's an 8 point deficit at this point. Tech would need to win the 1500 meter run tomorrow and have Florida either place last in the 110 hurdles and 4x400 relay or have them accumulate less than 3 points between those two events to at least take a share of the title.

It's a long shot, but either way it's a very impressive showing for the program that had a lot of juniors and sophomores competing.

Expect A&M to pass everyone tomorrow, FSU may pass us as well. VT may hang on to 4th or 5th which is still impressive.

Long time lurker, first time poster, and former Hokie track and xc athlete. Good to see the track team getting some attention. Coach Cianelli has done an amazing job building the program at tech. In his tenor the team has now had quite a few NCAA champions on both the men's and women's team, multiple ACC championships, and an Olympic athlete in 2008.

We don't have a shot to win NCAA's this year as we only have a one athlete competing today, the final day of the event, but it's great to see the team so high in the rankings and hopefully we hang on for a top 5 finish.

VT has hung on to finish 5th!....in elite company. The only thing the VT track team is missing is multiple sprinters. Need to be able to compete in the sprint relays at the national level.
