We've had him for some time, a decade, give or take a season, and with the struggles he's been having lately, one can't help but wonder if he's truly finished in his career.

Could very well be his frustration of having to try to stay up on top of his game while the rest of the team collapses; I've taken this into consideration as well.

So which is it? Thoughts?

Done? I don't think so. Is something wrong? Most likely. He may only be 29 but it's an old 29.
Since that infamous Yankee rain game he's been awful. This hasn't been just a few starts

6-7, 5.40 ERA, Opp BA .292, Opp OPS .773, LD rate 25% since June 1

I haven't seen a game in weeks but for afar it seems he has mentally checked out.

He has a 3.48 xFIP in the second half. Not as good as in previous years (or early 2015), but to say he's done is absolute hyperbole.

That being said...
Is Felix Hernandez Hurting? | FanGraphs Baseball

I'm guessing the question is "Is he done being the King" and not done as a MLB pitcher. So yes for me he is done as the King but he will still have flashes but not Cy Young runs.

I don't believe he is done being "The King" physically. I just think he has checked out for the remainder of the season

Doubt that actually. He is too competitive to check out mentally. Not in his nature. Stuff just isn't the same which was bound to happen with all his innings pitched in his career.

If you read that fangraphs article, there is a compelling argument to be made that he is injured and pitching through it. His competitive nature is exactly why I believe he could be hurt, he is a player who I think wouldn't tell the staff if he was injured.

That I can agree with.

he's not loading up with that left leg nearly as much now as he was at the beginning of the season, and you can also see there's less force in his follow though.

looks like a groin thing to me, and he's had it for awhile now.

I was thinking groin or ankle. He twisted it a couple times early on in the season and I doubt it ever healed. Definitely lower body which if you aren't careful can cause upper body injuries.

I haven't watched all of his starts, or even most, but I'm inclined to think the same thing.

What was the deal with him putting his Seatle house on the market? Does he want out? Just found a better pad in the area?

When it comes to pitching everything comes from the legs and core, if any part of those is hurt, it can cause some major issues. Seeing as he seems to have glass ankles lately this is most likely the case. I hope....

I heard on the radio that the home he sold hasn't been lived in in since 2013, and that he bought another home in the area around that time.

Well that's good then.

I just remember hearing aboot the house deal and wondering if that was a sign he wanted to move on.
