Broncos pay heavy price for being stubborn in Von Miller deal that goes beyond the wallet
If you have not read this yet, do not. This guy basically goes on about how the Broncos overpaid for Von Miller and should have extended him before this and that they got put over barrel and gang raped and yadda, yadda, yadda.
I am not sure how you can right any of this, the price of Miller was known months ago, almost since the end of the season. We knew it was going to be north of 100 million for the total contract, we knew a couple months ago it was 114 million. That part had been agreed upon by the Broncos and Von and everyone knew this amount was going to be what we were paying for him.
I absolutely love people with hindsight that sit there and go you should have, well what this brain child does not understand is that the Broncos tried and they tried low balling the hell out of Von. Von just kept saying no. Von knew he was going to get paid and low balling him to stay here was just not going to work. Every once in awhile you do have to pay your super stars for a team. It is just how this business works. Occasionally you will get guys that will give the team a home town discount. This should never be counted on and no NFL player should ever be faulted for trying to get all they can out of every contract that they sign.
How does this piece even become more irresponsible? When you go and look at how Von's contract is laid out, you suddenly start to see some really good work in it. The contract is laid out with even money almost across the board, you are not under or overpaying any of the years except the one year that the Broncos are actually slightly strapped. This year, they are under paying Von and actually added cap space that give them the opportunity to add another piece if they want. Yes, you read that correctly, they actually got cap space back this year for Von in a year they kinda really wanted it. There are still some nice players out there that could be signed to come in and help this team. All of the big money years for Von's contract are occurring when we already have a lot of room to absorb this contract. Plus, we are not paying a big money QB any more, we have discounts across the board in that area and do not have to address that issue for years to come when Von will be aged and not able to demand the same amount of money.
To end this, all I really have to say is that you Charles Robinson are nothing more than a hack trying to play sensational journalism when you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.
Okay, rant over.
