There's never , not once, been a QB start his season at age 40+ who won more games than he lost after that. That's pretty insane. Clearly not a ton of guys starting at age 40+ but to NEVER have one guy win more than he lost after that is crazy . Does that give pause to teams starting older QBS? Or no? Even guys who aren't quite 40 yet but who we all think can play a few more years. What says the board ?

Sounds about right. If you are good enough for a team to start you at 40, you probably are good enough that people keep giving you a shot even once you have started losing.

The only way to break that record is probably to be with an injury. Imagine Brady goes 10-6 this year but gets hurt in the playoffs and retires. That would be the only way he doesn't keep coming back until he has lost it.

if you play like youre 50, does that make you the first 50 year old QB in the league?

Brett Favre went 13-12 and won a playoff game after he turned 40. Not great, but not exactly a loser after he went over the hill.

The new rules protecting QBs make it more feasible for success into their 40s.

You know the saying.

Father Time Is Undefeated!

I think a few guys like Brady and Brees are pushing the limits, but imo it won't be the norm to see guys playing much past 36.

Im happy Brees got his ring, he's had the type of career that deserves a ring, and you hate a see a QB not win one through very little fault of his own

I think the stat for I'd the season that starts once youre 40. Not counting the games that happen if you turn 40 during the season .

Living in ATL this long, I've grown to not like the Saints now...lol

I think Brees was the perfect guy to go to NO...if you remember he was signed sealed and delivered in MIA basically...they thought his shoulder was still wrecked and begged off...Saints step in and the rest is history.

The Saints have made some bad post SB personnel decisions, in house, in family actually, ownership fighting, bounty gate, etc. so I guess I can't blame Brees for not offering a hometown discount, but quite as kept, Drew has pocketed nearly $200 mil+ from the Saints and they haven't had much cap space to get the DEF back to a playoff level much less a SB level.

Yup, remember the Miami situation well, my brother is a huge Dolphins fan and I like to remind him of that a few times a season

You're THAT guy, huh...needler...but you did say it was your brother...nevermind, carry on.

He usually initiates the ball busting, which being a Miami fan, isnt wise on his part, I have a wee bit more ammunition

I read the title of this thread and thought you might be referring to this fact and record that could be broken against your Falcons on Sunday night.

In the History of the NFL no player has ever thrown 300 TDs with less than 5306 passing attempts until this next Sunday hopefully. It is a good thing he is not near age 40 yet.

Aaron Rodgers on the verge of more NFL passing history

I don't know about that. Today's player has all the medicinal/nutritional/training advancements that previous eras did not. The QB position is protected like never before. The great QB's could almost always play into their late 30's and a lot of them were still very effective at that age. I can see Brady playing at a high level for a few more years....same as Brees. Manning probably would but had the neck injury which is more of fluke type injury rather than advanced age catching up with him.
