I Hate To Say This, But My Knicks Should Trade Melo

Shumpert, Fye, Felder, and whatever picks the Cavs are allowed to trade for Melo

only deal i would do if i was the Cavs--- and im not even sure losing Shumpert for Melo is the greatest of ideas.

Nobody wants him? Unless he comes for so stupidly cheap that the NY Knicks org would be even stupider than every franchise in EVERY major sport combined to make the trade forget it. WTF is Kevin Love gonna do? Cavs regardless shut that down so fast it was laughable.

Best thing they could do is trade him for several boxes of Mike and Ikes (IF they can get that) and give those to the existing players to see if it makes them happy and improve play.

The Cavaliers have been to the finals twice with Kevin Love and won one championship - None with Carmelo - In fact Carmelo has never been to a finals. There's that

The Knicks have already told the Clippers that they do not need to get Griffin, Chris Paul or Andre Jordan for Carmelo so it doesn't seem like the Knicks have raised the bar very high.

The Celtics are not interested at all

I am pretty sure some one would trade for Carmelo if the Knicks are interested though. Just not sure who.

Personally, I think the Cavaliers would need to sit down with Lebron and Carmelo and had a discussion about what they expect. It's possible that Carmelo would adjust his game to win one with Lebron.

Melo makes 27 mil and has a trade kicker.

It would take Redick, Rivers and Crawford to equal that salary.

Outside of Felton, that's every healthy guard on the roster.

Plus, the Knicks want no part of Crawford's 3/42m deal.

So, they are trying to find a 3rd team to take him.

I don't see this getting done, honestly.

Because we are hardcapped, and don't have backcourt options, the Knicks or 3rd Team would have to take Wesley Johnson instead of Crawford or Redick.

Yeah if you could talk to Carmelo first, and have an understanding of what is expected. I expect the Knicks would like Rivers because he is a point guard which would leave the Clippers short of a back up for Chris Paul. If they can figure that out, yes that would be a good trade.

I don't think Melo would be worth a damn on the Cavs. The Cavs problem isn't offense, it's defense and Melo would make it worse. Plus, if he doesn't accept a much reduced role, he could cause issues in the locker room leading to more passive aggressive tweets and statements by Lebron.

That's why picking up Korver hasn't really done much for them. The Cavs should be looking at someone who will help their defense or at least brings more to the table than 15-20 foot jump shots by a guy who's going to hold the ball for 15 seconds before shooting it while playing no defense.

On second thought, maybe the Cavs SHOULD trade for Melo.
