FSU struggled BUT beat an Okie State team that was replacing around 20 starters (if memory serves). Congrats on being a middle of the pack team with a lot of potential in the Big12! Nothing to sneeze at:suds:

Well hell yeah, coming off a 7-6 season, and after shutting out an incredible Southern Miss team, why shouldn't we be ranking Miss State in the Top 10?

Fuck, nobody has credentials better than that, right?

I mean, damn, lets look at those 7 monster wins last year from Miss State shall we? A 1 point home win over Bowling Green. A 6 point win over Kentucky. Wins over Alcorn State and Troy. OT wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss, and finally a bowl win over Rice. Throw those incredible 7 wins in with a shut out of a Southern Miss team that is 1-24 since the start of the 2012 season, and why shouldn't we rank Miss State in the Top 10?
Don't you know it's all about who they lose to?

Want to see something really funny? Check out ESPN's FPI Ratings of college football after week 1.

ESPN Football Power Index - 2014 - ESPN

Florida, who has not played a game this year and after going 4-8 last year is ranked 19th. 5 spots ahead of Michigan State. :L

It is completely fucking pathetic. Obviously recruiting rankings must make up about 80% of this POS "Power" ranking system.

Mississippi State 10th?

Michigan 15th?

Pittsburgh 23rd?

Texas 25th?

Tennessee 33rd?

Virginia 38th, followed by Missouri at 39th?

Kentucky 40th?

Is this a combined ranking system compiled by Paul Finebaum, Tony Barnhart, and Petros Papadakis?

Michigan has a20% chance of winning th B1G while MSU has a 9%? They are smoking some bad stuff.

Don't you know it's all about who they lose to?

How could we forget?

MSU's 2013 losses:

vs Okie State (neutral site) 3-21
@ Auburn 20-24 (nobody played Auburn close last year, not even Washington State)
@ LSU 26-59
vs South Carolina 16-34
@ Texas A&M 41-51
vs Alabama 7-20 (this has to be why they are ranked ahead of Oklahoma)

MSU is an impressive 37-28 under Dan Mullen now in his 6th year. In the 5 years Coach Mullen has been at MSU, they have strong finishes in the SEC West of 5th, 5th, 5th, 4th, and 5th and have never won more than 4 games in conference play while going 16-24 in conference games.

You'd have to be biggest SEC homer on the planet to think this is a deserving top 10 team in the country.

We're talking about Sakau here. He IS the biggest SEC homer on the planet.

For now. Need to remember that one.

It is funny if you understand you are pimping week 1 rankings. A lot of football left to play so 3 of those 4 teams could be out of the top 20 before you play them.

I agree 10 seems high for Mississippi State. But can you list 10 teams that definitely looked better than Mississippi State in week 1?
