Last year Houston was 8th seed at 45 wins and 37 losses

This year Houston is 54 wins and 28 losses which is a nice improvement, but...

I just don't see them getting to the Western Conference Finals. I think they are going to have a tough time with Portland in te first round, but should be able to beat them. I believe their next step would be the Spurs in the second round assuming the Spurs are healthy and don't fall apart - and I don't see that happening either. I believe Houston will be tasty lunch meat for the Spurs and audios muchachos in Houston

Isn't Houston undefeated vs spurs

So was the Orlando Magic when the Lakers took them in the finals in 2009. By now you've been around long enough to know that means nothing in the playoffs

Houston is built well for the playoffs. I seem to be in the minority, but they're my pick to come out of the west right now.

It's their first yr together so if they don't make it to the conference finals I won't consider their season a failure

Houston better worry about Portland.

They are healthy and redhot right now. (quietly 9-1 since Aldridge came back).

Portland looks a lot like the team that was a dominant force in the early months before injuries and mental focus derailed them.

If the Rockets are focusing on how they matchup with San Antonio or OKC, they will have a short stay courtesy of Portland.

This is what I was thinking - Portland is pretty good and quite honestly I think they can beat Houston. Howard is a good player, but he is not a franchise player capable of being the man down the stretch and neither is Hardin. I think Houston really needs that third player like Miami has before they can take it to the next level

They really need a guard period - I like Harden, but he's too much like Kobe - He lacks enough rebounds and assists to be a well rounded player in the elite status. With the point guard of considerable talent - Houston would be really good. I have a feeling Portland will give them problems

The 2012 Finals convinced me that Harden wasn't a max deal player. This series is re-enforcing that belief. And Aldridge is killing the Rockets this series.
