The way you compare is by looking at the player's best years.

If we were looking at just a players best years btw, Shaq would be #1, as short as it may be.

Saying KD is better than Kobe was is just laughable. But hey, that's just my opinion

But, if KD wins 3 titles more titles with 2 more Finals MVPs and a regular season MVP, I think many if not most will rank him ahead of Kobe. He is on that type of track, and given that he plays for the ultimate super team, future rings are pretty easy to project.

I agree though. He needs to accomplish a good bit more to be a top 10 player. I think he will. He isn't there yet.

Admittedly 2-3 years may be a bit of an exaggeration. He was still amazing however.

If I remember correctly that was his career high game. 60-something points and 20-something rebounds to add to it.

Yeah. Just looked it up.

Honestly not as good as I remembered. 61 points, 23 rebounds and 3 assists.

I thought he had 5 or 6 assists with like 4 blocks. He didn't block any shots that night.

NBA players' "prime" years are 23-29.

The cake is baked as far as Lebron is concerned, look at his win shares/48-

From age 23-29 he didn't have a single season where his WS/48 was under .242

At age 30 it dips to .199, then back up to .242 (remarkable for a 31-year old), then back down to .221.

Now, KD has never reached Lebron-level WS/48 in his entire career (which is one of the main reasons why I put Lebron ahead of KD). But KD did have at least a .230 WS/48 from age 23-28 (KD's last "prime" season will be this year).

Kobe had one season in his entire life that was above .210.

One.

And Kobe never, not once, even matched KD's "prime" season .230 WS/48 floor.

You want to compare cumulative career stats between a guy who played 20 NBA seasons and a guy who's not even 30 yet, go ahead. But like I said, the cake is baked as far as I'm concerned, and KD deserves to be in the top-10 conversation at least.

David Robinson is high on my list because he missed one of his prime seasons, came out of the gate dominating, and had 12 of his 14 seasons with a higher WS/48 than Kobe's career best. For 12 of the 14 seasons David Robinson played, he was better than Kobe Bryant's best.

Look beyond the ESPN and LA hype machines.
