"Pending approval by Major League clubs and the MLB Players Association, Major League Baseball will ban home-plate collisions beginning in 2014. Players must now slide going into home plate."

Say goodbye to home-plate collisions in MLB | For The Win

So baseball is transforming into sarcastaball now? Fucking great.

Also, no fastball can be thrown above 85 MPH. Too dangerous to the players guaranteed to make 5, 10, 15, 20 million dollars a year to play the game.

Also, Article 2, paragraph B of the rule states that to further protect the catcher the baserunner must hand his purse to the third base coach as he rounds the bag.....

Pete Rose is turning over in his grave

What a fucking joke. 167 million dollar man Buster Posey gets a little boo boo on his pussy from Logan Morrison, and now one of the most exciting plays of the game is illegal. Here's some fucking news: YOU DON'T WANT TO GET RUN OVER AT THE PLATE, PLAY A DIFFERENT FUCKING POSITION.

Fucking bullshit.

I don't think so, he is still alive! Plus, I think Pete would say, slide with your spikes high! However, one has to wonder, would this allow a catcher to simply sit down on home plate? Plus, all the catcher needs to do is stand up in front of the plate if he does not have time to sit. Last, but not least, how about the runner pounding on the catchers glove or hand, so he could knock the ball out.

This is all because they dont want their players getting injured its ridiculous. Im a huge baseball fan and I have to admit that the sport is declining and now they want to take away from the game experiance. Its all because of the injury to buster posey they dont want the star player getting hurt again if the major league clubs and players association approve this than that shows they are selfish and could careless what the fans want.

What the heck are runners suppose to do when the catcher blocks the plate?

I like the new rule. The catcher is defenseless when a guy comes barreling in with his shoulders and he's trying to tag the runner. He's not wearing NFL equipment. Clean baseball is a better game. The feet can do a lot to jar the ball loose.

Well what is a runner suppose to when the catcher is blocking the plate? most catchers literally just sit on the plate covering it making sure the runner doesnt score, you have to hit him

if they make this rule then they should also make a rule where the catcher must be a good foot from the base and cannot cover it

The catcher still must tag the runner even if he's sitting on the whole plate. A runner can also churn up a lot of dirt into the catcher's face. In that case we have to hope they don't outlaw aggressive sliding if a catcher were to be temporarily blinded. lol.

This is the PC version for baseball of what is happening in the NFL. Can't ouch anybody anymore and the NFl is a hair's width away from putting flags on these dudes. Old white dudes with too much money allowing corporate lawyers call the shots like everywhere else. Another form is rules of engagement at the Pentagon created by pussy lawyers who have never spent one minute on the battlefield calling the shots thousands of miles away for the guys pulling the triggers and getting shot at. All of it is completely absurd. This is the same type of PC BS that is infecting all sports. Somebody gets their mangina bruised and now wussie idiot Selig stands back and allows somebody to think this crap up. Go figure!

Well if we're judging him on being able to tag a runner who is sliding into his glove, I don't even think he's reached his prime.

Just another example of Pro sports being pussified by todays way of thinking, this Nation is becoming a Nation of pansy asses with no fucking backbone, maybe they can make em wear skirts and exchange thier bats for rackets and ball for a shuttlecock and call is baseball, oh wait that would be to manly by the standards in todays mlb.

Nice picture you painted. Guys with kilts on sliding into home exposing their underwear, that is, those with underwear on.
