So then how is Derrick Henry #3 in pre-season heisman per SI? I could name a good bit of RB's with more success

Pretty much. The only three exceptions this millennium were RG3, Johnny Football, and Tebow, and all three of them got A TON of press and became crossover stars. Maybe there is that unknown player out there whose personality will make them a household name by season's end, but that's not exactly something you can predict in a preseason ranking.

In a preseason prediction, the best bet by far is to take guys who you expect to be on a top four team.

Does not have to be upper classman. thought used to be that way but is no longer. but either way Henry is a Junior now.
Henry plays for Alabama. was just shy of 1000 yards while splitting carries with Yeldon who was also just shy of 1000. now Yeldon is gone. Jones was dismissed. They need Tenpenny or Drake (or someone unexpected) to step up to that #2 roll still.
New starting QB and no more Cooper to throw to. he had more recieving yards than the next 7 guys combined.

I believe Johnny Manziel won the Heisman his freshman year. He was a Redshirted Freshman though.

Give me a fucking break. There is no 2006- 2007 and 2008-2009 season. This isn't basketball or hockey.

Steve Owens won the Heisman Trophy playing for a horrible 6-4 Oklahoma team. But Steve was a stud and if not for him OU would have been 3-7. He was also drafted in the 1st round and had a nice career with the Detroit Lions becoming their first ever 1,000 yard rusher in one season.

We could play him anywhere and he was unbelievable. WR,RB,KR,PR, Im convinced he could have ran some read option at QB with no problem at all but the guy needed a break from time to time.

Tenpenny transferred.

Bo Scarbrough(5 star) was injured in the spring, or he would have been next in line I think behind Drake. I think he is expected back before the season starts, he is a true freshman. Was supposed to be on last years class, but had academic problems or something.

Damien Harris(5 star) gets here this summer. He was a top3 RB in the country in this recent class. Many expect he'll see some carries as a true freshman as well.

And there was another 4 star guy true freshman as well that enrolled early. I don't think many expect him to see much field time this year.

So he's gonna have to be the man if he wants to get enough carries. I honestly don't think he has much chance, but I hope for the best.

FWIW, I think our WR corps as a whole will be improved even as we have lost Cooper.

Because it's a stupid trophy that's based mostly on hype and magazines like SI will put out names from big schools because it gets them more readers, and they are less likely to look like they don't know a damn thing.
