This program continually gets better every year, while the U gets shittier. Is it out of the question to suggest UCF is now the #3 program behind UF and FSU?

I think I can ignore UF's miserable season last year if they can rebound this year, so I can't put UCF at #2 right now behind FSU just yet. If the Big 12 expands back to 12 teams, I really hope they pick up UCF......

Not even close

Teams are allowed cycles.

Miami, Florida, and Florida State can recruit laps around UCF.
All it takes is one or two elite recruiting classes to get right back into it.

UCF is a distant 4th place.

One dream season of close wins and a close 2014 loss versus Penn State....that is not enough to make them a great program.

Now, if they joined the Big 12. They could rise quickly with the added assets and income of a major conference to build long term infrastructure.

But, for now, they are the 4th best in Florida.

That is exactly how it works.

If UCF joined a large revenue league (whether its the ACC, SEC, Big 12 or whomever), they could upgrade their facilities and expand their recruiting budgets.

They are a sleeping giant that just needs a big time league to give them a chance.
It would take a few years at higher revenue, but they are a long term win for a power league

They will never ever approach FSU, Miami, or Florida State toiling away for pennies the AAC as they are current.

Easily a better program than Miami.

UCF 0-1. Canes 0-1
UCF 0 national titles. Miami 5 national titles

OP seems legit.

yeah, and Harvard has 9 national titles...that makes Harvard better than Miami? Cause those championships from 100 years ago are about as relevant to Miami's championships are for this discussion:D

UCF needs to play and beat Miami before claiming they are ahead of them. Just my opinion.

Don't worry Hurricanes.
This is the same crap that was posted about TCU 4 or 5 years ago.

Everyone was asking whether TCU had officially passed A&M, Baylor, and Tech just a few years ago.
TCU had some gaudy seasons and a few big bowl wins as an outsider.
They got their quarterback drafted in the first round.

A&M was a bit uneven, Tech could never win the big games, Baylor sucked, and Texas wasn't beating common opponents by as much as TCU.

The answer was "NO" for TCU.
The answer is "NO" for UCF.

Put, UCF in a power 5 league and they will have growing pains just like the Big 12 version of TCU.

In the long term, it could work.
It also might work for TCU in the state of Texas.

But not today.

Miami, Florida, and Florida State are all superior programs.

That is pretty funny. However I LOL more at VT considered being a significant force in CFB. When have you ever been significant?

in 1998....Oh wait nevermind.

Swamp what the hell happened with the UF game. Were the storms that bad down there? I know they had lightning, but good god never seen them cancel a game before. And UF has to pay Idaho 975,000 for it too. Any word on them making it up?
