Harbaugh assistant tells recruit, "without football you wouldn't get into Michigan"

Very true. I'll admit over half our football team couldn't qualify to get into UT if they didn't play football. Still, that's pretty hilarious what the coach said: "You're lucky you can play ball, otherwise your dumbass couldn't get into Michigan"......

I would guess that is true regarding at least half the kids at the P5 schools. SAT scores are generally at least a 100 pts off from the general student population.

It may be true for many players, but I'd venture a guess that it is not something on the list of recruiter talking points. The guy fucked up.

If that's what he said verbatim, then it certainly was NOT a good recruiting decision and definitely in poor taste. Now the $64,000 question is whether or not he (Mattison) said that or whether things went south and now they're trying to pull the race card.

If Mattison DOES actually say things like that he must do it intermittently as he was able to flip that kid from Nebraska that D-end Reuben Jones, so maybe this also was a Cornhusker concoction after being snubbed by Jones.

It was Mattison the D-Line coach and prior D-Coordinator. Ex Raven DC and the guy that recruited Jabril Peppers to UofM.

I doubt seriously a guy with as much experience as Mattison going all "your a dumbshit that can't get into uofM on your own".

Regardless it wasn't Jim Harbaugh talking tohim he was doing a home visit with 5 star CB I. Marshall.

I didn't see the interview, I just went off what was incredulously said from an old white guy to a young black kid so I'll admit to jumping the gun on this mea culpa.

Not only did he insult the kids intelligence, but insulted his family as well. Assuming that the kid is too dumb and his parents are too poor to afford an education without football is not a smart route to go, regardless of the truth.

You might be too damn fat to run track, but if someone told you "thank god for shot put or your fat ass wouldn't be here!"....somebody is gettin punched.
