So Ray looks the same (and that is not a good thing) and Teoscar shows why so many say he is a DH.

Well, I see Robbie Ray hasn't missed a beat. Still every bit as mid as he was last season.

Is it too early to send him down for fine tuning?

And that is why you do not throw 8 straight balls to start an inning and hand out 2 free passes / base runners ( both scored plus Zunino ( and I think he walked also.

Unlucky play on the throw to the plate from RF, walks will usually come back to hurt you, and they did just that.

The baserunner was clearly in his line of site. Was he going to throw the 'ole 4 hopper to the dish?
Ya there was no reason to have the ball where he threw it. Bases loaded you get the ball over the baserunner and 1B. Just a terrible throw. Then Ray tried to play Ozzie Smith and get the runner at home which cost us two more runs in the inning.

After a solid first game, we get complete ass for the second. Ray was trash and 3 errors so far.

Get it all out of your system tonight.

It's pretty obvious that Robbie "Rotten" Ray never really recovered from his playoff choke last year. It showed all too much.

That said, while it's not exactly fair to judge a team after only two games out of 162, it IS important to take note of this and find some way for him to iron out his problems if he's to take the mound again in the near future.

Something to think about there.

He can't be as bad as Winker, right? RIGHT?

Ugly game. Onto the next one.

81-81. Ray isn’t as bad as he was today. He has his 1 bad inning but damn the defense was bad. @NWinAZ that was a big concern I let you know I had was trying to improve the offense but having the defense take a step back could cause an issue…..but it is just one game.

When R. Ray is on he is on and when he is off he is off.

Pretty good pitcher ... but he can turn a start into a dumpster fire in the blink of an eye and for some reason just cannot right the ship like a truly quality veteran arm should be able to do.

After you walk a guy on 4 straight pitches ... it's time to quit trying to paint the edges of the zone and simply throw a few strikes to get settled in.
He will finish the season with a +/- 3.95 era and hopefully give us 180 innings. I doubt he wins over 16 games.

Some starts he will look like the guy we paid $20mil plus a season for and other starts he will be Rotten Robbie.

Logan Gilbert is our #2 pitcher. The quicker skip figures that out the better we are moving forward.

VERY sloppy defense and mental errors that should never happen on a pro ball field.

Julio pissed on a few balls last nite. I think this will be a really special season for the kid

I didn't follow spring all that closely, but there was one of the guys that cover the team on the radio earlier this week that picked Robbie to be the top pitcher on the team. Said he looked back to his Cy young level past.

Again, just one game, but the coverage guys were smoking Crack at cactus league.

Happy to see JK get a hit in both games and the one last night was actually a legit hit, but.... His strikeouts are still bad. That last AB where he watched strike 3 go right down main street was just awful.

Add the defense woes and I'll be surprised if they can tread water over the first month.
