Grilli Cheese

Jason Grilli was great for me all season, went down on the DL for a while and is now back but not having the best luck. I kind of feel like it is a bit of bad luck as he is still racking up K's.

Anyway, I have been clinging to him in hopes of an imminent strong return despite many people dropping him like the plague. Trying to decide if I should hold strong or move on. Thoughts?

I think it is time to cut bait on him. I know I did.

Melancon is pitching lights out. At this point, i'd be very surprised if Grilli takes over...this season, anyway.

It's all the more difficult to rate and decide on this type of closer. What I mean is, a guy that comes out of nowhere, and has a great season. It leaves pretty much zero to go on going forward, as, will he be the guy he was before this year, or, can he and will he continue.

Plus I believe the Pirates are paying him to close games and they will probably want him to be doing so.

While I follow your logic, I think that above wanting him to do what they paid him to do, they want to win. So, who gives them the better chance to do so right now today?

My money is on Melancon.

Trade deadline was last week and it's the playoffs right meow.

well, don't even know why there is a question, dump him for someone with more holds (if those count) or with more opportunity...just check stats over the last 14 to 21 days...and go with the best option.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple days. I will have to make a decision sometime this weekend.

Smart move grabbing Perez. Surprised you were able to get him. I just saw that Melancon blew the save last night...no big deal, but I really hope the Pirates don't make a change right now!

I've been thinking that too which made it hard to drop Grilli. The thing that tipped the scales for me is that the Indians have a very nice schedule the rest of the regular season.
