This Week

12th seed - DT Joe Greene vs 21st seed - RB Gale Sayers
13th seed - QB Sammy Baugh vs 20th seed - QB Tom Brady

Seeds are based on a ranking from NFL.com. I did not include the two offensive linemen that are in the top 24.

This will be double elimination. Allowed to change votes until deadline. Higher seed advances in case of a tie.

I want to vote for Slinging Sammy, just to piss off all the Brady fans. But Brady is just too much better.

Well...Sammy was more then a Qb...what about him being the best Punter in the league for years!!! Or the great Defensive player he was.....The Totality of his multi demensional career surely has more merit to it, then a smug, cheating QB????

Sammy Baugh might have played more than QB, but his major impact was QB. Tom Brady has roughly 5,000 more pass attempts with better completion percentage and far better TD-INT ratio. Brady also led the team to more league championships and was league MVP just as much.

It very difficult to compare passing numbers from 50 years apart. But, if compared to how the average qb of their era performs, Sammy Baugh not only torches Tom Brady across the board, but he pretty much torches everyone else as well. When they say he revolutionalize the passing game, what they mean is that no one has been that much better than those who were playing against him. Baugh's 244.8 yards per game in 1947 wouldn't be matched until Johnny U in 1963, and his 2.2 INT% in 1945 would be the mark to beat until 1959 (it was in the top 5 for 20 years).

Both players played 15 years (to this date)

League leaders:
Completions = Baugh - 5, Brady - 0
Attempts = Baugh - 4, Brady - 0
Comp % = Baugh - 9, Brady - 1
Yards = Baugh - 4, Brady - 2
YPA = Baugh - 3, Brady - 1
YPC = Baugh - 1, Brady - 0
TDs = Baugh - 2, Brady - 3
TD% = Baugh - 2, Brady - 2
INTs = Baugh - 3, Brady - 0
INT% = Baugh - 6, Brady - 2
Rating = Baugh - 4, Brady - 2
YPG = Baugh - 6, Brady - 1

Tom Brady lost, but keep that in mind. It would be interesting to see how that matches up against Joe Cool next month. It might not influence me that much, but it still will be interesting to see the comparison.
