Barry Switzer was seriously recruiting Greg Pruitt and when he made his home visit he was wearing a full length fur coat. The visit went really well but Greg asked Coach where he was parked since it was late at night and the neighborhood was pretty rough. Switzer told him it was just a little ways down the block and his car was fine. He had paid 3 kids $5 each to watch his car for him and he was going to pay them another $5 each if there hadn't been a problem. When they went outside there were about a dozen kids watching Switzer's car for him. Barry just smiled, walked over and started paying all of them for doing a great job for him. Between that and the fur coat there was no doubt Barry Switzer was one cool guy.
* In 1971 Greg was a Heisman finalist after gaining 1760 yards on just 196 carries at OU for a 9 yards/carry average. He also averaged 27 yards/catch that season. In his whole career at OU, Greg averaged 8 yards every time he touched the ball. And he's a helluva nice person to boot.
