Game should never have gone OT.
Players trying to score on an open net from their own zone should not see the ice again let alone on the PP in OT (Simmonds).
So Frustrating.
Mason deserved a better fate in this mess.

Fucking joke. We led 2-0 with 2:33 remaining and had a two minute power play. That's how fucking insane this is.

The goal they scored to close to within one was a 5 on 5 goal with their net empty, so technically it was shorthanded. Then the tying goal comes with 8 seconds left. You've got to be fucking kidding me...

We could be in a playoff spot right now

EDIT: ...are we? NHL.com doesn't seem to have updated Detroit's loss

We technically are in a playoff spot due to one fewer game played, but if we lose that game in hand in regulation, the Wings still narrowly own the ROW tiebreaker on us. That's what we just fucked up.

This should've been a 2-0 or 3-0 shutout for Mase and instead we completely fucked it up for him.

Not to mention this just cost my fantasy team about 10 points...Lol

I'd love to know how many leads this team has blown with under 2 min left this season. I'd wager 5-6. Also, 2-8 in the shootout - dear god that's a lot of blown points. If we don't blow half those leads or win a shootout or two more, we are comfortably in the playoffs. Could even be talking about 3rd in the division right now. Also - no Ghost or Voracek in the shootout? Hakstol has done a great job but it's decisions like that that BLOW my mind

BAG SKATE- total bullshit in the last 1 1/2 minutes

Honestly, between this disaster of a finish and the effort Saturday against Pittsburgh, I completely agree.

This kind of shit is unforgivable.

The frustration here lies in the fact that we know our guys can lock a game down late and get the two points. Why? We've seen them do it numerous times in the last month and over much better teams than Columbus. What the fuck happened here!?! The entire fucking team can be held responsible.

Btw, the shootout was much closer than I expected, but then Mase ended up looking like a fish out of water on the clinching goal and everything returned to normal. And yes, I don't understand sending out Couturier to tie it for us. Probably half a dozen guys I would've rather seen take that shot.

Some day they will stop packing it in so bad when defending a lead. It's unreal how many points they've given up because they abandon the attack with 5 minutes to play. At least the 3rd game that they've given up the tying goal in the last minute.

For freakin couturier too. I had a post typed up about how he has very little scoring touch earlier today but didn't post it because he does so many other good things. Couldn't even find the net with the goalie down and out, missed and kicked in to gagner finishing it for him last game. I like coots a lot, but he has no ability to score. At least not right now.

Ridiculous. Hopefully it pisses them off instead of breaking their spirit.

In calm (or as calm as I can manage when thinking about last nights game) reflection:
1. Simmonds has to come off the top PP unit. He is ice cold.
2. Any form of blame being placed on Mason for the shoot out is an utter and complete joke. He was the only reason the team even had a chance to be in that game.
3. Where was the puck presence and urgency that they showed in OT during the last 5 minutes of the game?
4. How is it that Schenn gets two more clinch assists and doesn't sniff the ice in OT PP?

I am still in complete and utter disbelief that this even happened. This game was as over as games get. We're on the power play still with just over one minute remaining in the game and a 2-0 lead. We give up a goal while 5 on 5 with their goalie pulled and then another 56 seconds later, only 8 seconds before the end of the game. Not to mention Mase was in the zone all game long and not giving them anything. Then we fail to score on a 1:14 long power play in OT.

If we were to somehow miss the playoffs or miss a top three seed in our division by a lone point, this game would haunt us for a long time.
