...as 3 players recruited, coached and developed by Charlie Strong picked in first round of NFL draft.

Also, Mike Sherman, former a&m coach, scored big again in the draft. Three players taken in first round as well. He did have an eye for talented football players.

Yeah but Sherman could not seem to win enough games with that talent.

Yeah, teams are funny. Hard to catch that spark. But he sure did recruit a lot of players who were talented.

He's either good at coaching kids up, or good at evaluating talent.

Either way it's better than just eking by on good recruits because of where you are. "Yay, we went to a bowl".

That is a bit near-sighted. They lost a lot of close games his last year. The team was very young. A few computers had them top 20 despite the losses. The truth is we do not know if he would have succeeded with another year.

The team wasn't young since we had upperclassmen experience with Ryan Swope, Jeff Fuller, Christine Michael, Ryan Tannehill, Randy Bullock, Evan Eike,Tony Jerrod Eddie,Jordan Matthis,Ben Bass, Sean Porter,Kyle Mangan,Ryan Epperson, Stephen Terrell, Trent Hunter, Coryell Judie and Spencer Nealey.

lilchi721 is right. The 2011 team had 17 returning starters.

Neither could Mack Brown with the talent he had, so don't feel bad. I think it's so funny that Sherman was out recruiting Mack Brown for those few years, yet MB kept getting all the credit for being Mr. Feburary!.

YES, I saw that dead horse move and decided to beat it again.

Not only should Mack Brown not be employed by The University of Texas at any level, he shouldn't even be allowed to live in Travis county.

I think the lack of talent, and the lack of developing what talent we had, is the reason MB is gone. Just look at the draft. Texas was existing by smoke and mirrors for 4 years.

The quarterback situation at Texas sums it all up in a neat little nutshell.

But past is past, on to a new day.

All I know is the offense will be different than what Johnny was running.
