WVU updated the football roster again. No big changes. They removed some more walk-ons from the roster. They also listed some position changes.
· Dontae Angus goes from OL to DL. He looked suited better for a space eater than a guard in his highlight film anyway.
· Yodney Cajuste goes from DL to OL. I think he played primarily offensive tackle in high school anyway.
· Michael Ferns goes from LB to FB. He is a transfer from Michigan. Clay and Hope are both seniors. Ferns was a 4 star MLB recruit. WVU just may want him to knock heads on the other side of the ball.
· Gross goes from S back to LB. Probably didn’t have the quickness to stay at safety. It would be nice if he developed into the pass rushing LB he was in high school but he played at 190 pounds as a freshman (listed at 215 that year) and he was listed at 205 last season. He just has a wide receiver’s body.
Roster breakdown
r-Seniors – 19 (1 walk-on)
Seniors – 8
r-Juniors – 16 (4 walk-ons but Justin Arndt will probably be given a scholarship before long. He had 12 tackles and a FF on special teams.)
Juniors – 8
r-Sophomores – 20 (8 walk-ons. 3 of these are specialists. 2 kickers and a long-snapper.)
Sophomores – 2
r-Freshman – 20 (9 walk-ons. 1 kicker and 1 long-snapper.)
Freshman – 2
73 scholarship players. 1 scholarship level player paying his own way. And 21 practice guys. That is 105 guys for Spring Camp.
WVU is projected to sign about 20 guys in 2 weeks for the 2015 season. So some of these guys will be playing for spots in Fall Camp as the scholarship limit is 85 and the Fall Camp limit for all players is 105 (Up until school starts then it expands).
