This just doesn't seem fair man. I was looking over some of the 2012 recruits that Wisconsin is going after. There's a kid in Minnesota with low 4.4 40 and a real nice shuttle run time.... So Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Notre Dame, and Michigan are all after him.

And then Florida. LOL. You assholes. You already have first dibs on all the guys we come after down there. Stay in your yard bitches. LOL

Edit: He's from Iowa not Minnesota

SEC teams don't care where they are from. If they got what it takes we will swoop in and snatch em up.

They're looking to try to find some of the Mac speed

after Miami of Ohio gave them fits last year and Toledo giving Ohio State fits this year it is clear the Mac is the fastest league.

He'll go to Iowa or Wisconsin, but I hear ya. Wisconsin's high-schools seem to be producing more and more skill position talent, but we generally snag Ohio, Florida, and Jersey kids to fill out our WR and DB depth.

The wake of defeated SEC teams vs. PSU all said the same thing since the days of Herschel Walker.

It is an impressive streak we have going. Not quite as long as our winning streak over Kentucky, but still impressive.

To the original topic, Florida has become much more of a national recruiting power since Meyer came threw.

Many of our top players every year are not even from Florida.

Harvin, Spikes, Haden, Newton, Dunlap, Cunningham, Hernandez to name a handful.

Recently in our 2010 class, of our top 3 players, 2 were from the Northeast (Floyd - Penn, Easley - New York) and the other was from Cali (Powell).

Now, with Muschamp, I can see us focusing more on Florida and Georgia, but I imagine we'll still pull a few from out of state every year (Humphries)

If you're talking about Darboh, look for him to somewhere besides Iowa.

Well, what they didn't tell you in the article was WHY he ran so fast. He was running away from Iowa and the rustbelt and toward Florida and greener pastures. Had he been running toward WI, he would have run much, much slower.

And Texas. Wisconsin loads up on O-linemen and whoever else they can get in state, but recruits skill players from down South.

Wisconsin's roster:

QB Russell Wilson - VA
RB Montee Ball - MO
RB (#2) James White - FL
FB Bradie Ewing - WI
WR Nick Toon - WI
WR Jared Abbrederis - WI
TE Jake Byrne - AR
TE (#2) Jacob Pederson - MI
OT Ricky Wagner - WI
OT Josh Oglesby - WI
OG Ryan Groy - WI
OG Kevin Zeitler - WI
C Peter Konz - WI

DE Louis Nzegwu - WI
DE David Gilbert - FL
DT Patrick Butrym - WI
DT Ethan Hemer - WI
LB Mike Taylor - WI
LB Kevin Claxton - FL
LB Chris Borland - OH
CB Devin Smith - TX
CB Marcus Cromartie* - TX
CB Antonio Fenelus - FL
S Shelton Johnson - TX
S Aaron Henry - FL

So we've got 5 starters from the state of Florida and 2 from Texas (plus a backup in for the injured CB). The whole defensive secondary is from Florida or Texas. That's probably why Florida is trying to go after kids on our backyard now.

We need to get a good Southern speed receiver or two and then we can be really dangerous... haha. Next year Wilson is gone but we'll have a freshman QB from De La Salle HS in California that's supposed to be pretty good.

*in for injured Smith next week

BigApple. I've heard that this Fred Willis kid from Brookfield is lightning fast. Kenzel Doe and Jeff Duckworth are supposed to have incredible speed too, along with the running back Jeff Lewis. Hopefully as this season goes on we'll be able to utilize them some more, because Wilson can definitely go over the top with that football.

Well Jeff Duckworth is from Cincinnati and Kenzel Doe is from North Carolina, so I guess those guys count as "Southern".

Isn't Melvin Gordon pretty fast too? How are his hands? They should try him at receiver, guy's 6'1" 190lbs.

Not sure about Gordon's hands.

We do have some speed on the team, though. More than people think. Lewis was the fastest guy on the team last year according to Bielima, even with Gilreath and Cromartie. Cromartie chased down Gilreath on a big play either last spring or this spring, so he's got jets. Gordon is a well known burner. And now they're saying Freddie Willis outruns everybody, with Jeff Lewis basically right there with him on the photo finish.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gordon out there collecting passes. Toon and Abbredaris are good, but they've got to find somebody who will extend the field and draw cover 2 from the defense.

He really doesn't want to stay home, ha?

He's from Africa. No real ties to the Hawks other than he lives in Iowa. Look for ND or Michigan.
