Maybe make them like the ATP for a few years and see what happens.

Come up with a penalty for players under 30 who are healthy who skip the other WTA Mandatory events.

I can see where the WTA is coming from, though.

Think about Serena Williams 2010 season.

She played in 6 tournaments only due to injury, and was the # 1 player for most of the year, until October 10.

The WTA wants players to play the regular season, though. The majors are owned by the ITF, the majors are owned by the WTA.

So out of those 6 tournaments, 3 of them were majors, 3 of them were regular tournaments.

So the WTA wants to discourage people from only playing the majors and being the # 1 player.

But, maybe that was just a unique case.

I'm just saying I can see where they are coming from, in trying to reduce the rankings points of the non-winners of majors.
