Tentative dates below, not yet finalized:

- 8/1 - Kelly to address the media
- 8/3 - Player interviews
- 8/4 - First day of practice
- 8/9 - Practice open to the media

Going to Culver Academies for a few days to practice as well.

Can't wait to get this show on the row...EG with a lot of weapons, two stud backs and big targets on the outside, hopefully Koyack coming into his own as well. The offense I'm excited to see. Also interested in how the ML spot plays out, be nice if Morgan can come along like Jaylon. DL is thin, but I think Ishaq coming off the the edge more will help with the pass rush...and hopefully we can get some good contribution from Cage in the middle. DBs are stack, deepest group ND has had in a long time.

I think the D line will be better than most people think (I'm an incurable optomist), my big surprise for the year is Romeo Okwara, I think he is going to have a big year at D end. My main concern is at the LB position, i do think the thought of moving Jaylon inside is interesting, but that leaves us with very little speed at the outside LB position.

Coaches poll has ND preseason #17. I think that is a good place to start. Beat Michigan and we'll be on our way to a good season.

Here is the rest of the pre-season Coaches Poll btw.

1) FSU
2) Alabama
3) Oklahoma
4) Oregon
5) Auburn
6) Ohio State
7) UCLA
8) Michigan State
9) South Carolina
10) Baylor
11) Stanford
12) Georgia
13) LSU
14) Wisconsin
15) USC
16) Clemson
17) Notre Dame
18) Arizona State
19) Ole Miss
20) Texas A&M
21) Kansas State
22) Nebraska
23) North Carolina
24) Texas
25) Washington

When did UCLA ever earn a top ten ranking? And I'd probably flip USC and ND in the poll. Other than that seems pretty legit. We play #1, #11, #15, #18 and #23...should be interesting.

Thanks for the link NDKane21, seemed like a pretty decent review of the boys, but let's be serious here, Russell as Punt Returner should not be an option, period. That is, unless he learned a ton in the off-season because that crap that was called Punt Returning last year would have the Rocket just cringing in his cleats.

Today's update on the DL, one I was most waiting for. I watch these everyday (sometimes a number of times) and can post if you all would like.

Cage is a big boy. Ishaq getting out of coverage is smart, I've said that for too long now.

Is it me or was Elston very reserved in his remarks about the DL's progress? Most of the other position coaches rattled off 2-3 guys who are stepping up and 1-2 freshman surprises. Outside of Sheldon Day, Elston didn't have much to say other than guys like Ishaq Williams will have to step up ( been hearing that one for years) and it sounded like he's not close to being that guy yet. I guess all this does is confirm most of our worst fears but I hope this unit can step up or we are going to have a tough time this year.

Well it was always going to be the big question mark on the team. I guess you can look at Trumbetti as a starter and say well obviously the upperclassmen weren't good enough to beat out a freshman which is either a great thing or a bad thing. At the end of the day I think the experience that Jones and Rochell got last year with all the injuries on the DL will help a ton this year.
