We’ve heard about some strange questionsbeing asked by coaches and scouts as part of the interview process at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The Falcons have acknowledged that one of their coaches asked an inappopriate one last week in a meeting with former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple.

Apple said during an appearance on Comcast SportsNet’s Breakfast On BroadFriday that a Falcons coach asked him if he liked men. The Falcons offered an aplogy for the question via a statement attributed to head coach Dan Quinn.

“I am really disappointed in the question that was asked by one of our coaches,” Quinn said. “I have spoken to the coach that interviewed Eli Apple and explained to him how inappropriate and unprofessional this was. I have reiterated this to the entire coaching staff and I want to apologize to Eli for this even coming up. This is not what the Atlanta Falcons are about and it is not how we are going to conduct ourselves.”

On the show Friday, Apple said the question was “the first thing he asked me. It was weird. I was just like, ‘no.’ He was like, ‘if you’re going to come to Atlanta, sometimes that’s how it is around here, you’re going to have to get used to it.’ I guess he was joking but they just ask most of these questions to see how you’re going to react.”

Was it Quinn who asked the question? If not why is his picture plastered front and center?

Probably his picture at the press conference where he apologized.

He is the one who apologized however it tacitly makes him look guilty of asking the question when the coach in question isn't being named.

What Quinn said makes it pretty clear that he wasn't the coach who asked the question:

"“I am really disappointed in the question that was asked by one of our coaches,” Quinn said. “I have spoken to the coach that interviewed Eli Apple and explained to him how inappropriate and unprofessional this was. Was it an interview question or was the coach just hitting on him?

This story is bogus. What the Falcons really asked is what Apple thought of Aaron Rodgers and then added the qualifier "No homo." It's all a big misunderstanding.
