If you read down, Mathis graded as a better lineman than even Whit during his time year, so naturally, Marvin sits him.

yes, it is completely illogical, we will take a guy like J. Shirley, who is a DT, and try to "teach" him how to play offensive line, but we don't allow decent offensive lineman to play because "we need him to be our back up tackle."

I remember Mathis as about equal to Livings....I thought they both sucked....evidently I was very wrong on Mathis.....

I'm not sure how profootballfocus or anyone judges the value of lineman, but never did I come away thinking Mathis was anything above average, let alone better than Whitworth.
