100 sacks seems to be the magic number. he was never a "season to season" double digit sack guy.

Nice! Always liked Doom. Kinda sucks that he jumped ship in Denver to Baltimore the year after Baltimore won the SB, only to watch Denver play in two SBs after that.

But, thats how football goes sometimes.

He dropped in the draft because he was undersized, and because of that ended up a steal for the Broncos in the 4th round. Also got Brandon Marshall in the same round. That 2006 class had some good talent for Denver, yet none of it really helped in those SB years.

Anyway, have fun in retirement, Elvis. Just don't die on the toilet like that other guy.

nope. and it's not really close.

he had a good run with a few good sack seasons but he was pretty one-dimensional ... wasn't real solid against the run

the guys right around him on the all-time sacks list (neil smith, pat swilling, trace armstrong) did not get into Canton and they were all stronger against the run than elvis.

i hear ya. i think i mentioned the no back to back season dominance. look at everyone with 100+ sacks:

NFL Sacks Career Leaders | Pro-Football-Reference.com

there are 32. 19 are in canton. after reviewing, it appears 125 is the new 100. nearly everyone with 125+ is is or will be in. there are 17 guys with 125+. 11 are in, and 5-6 are shoe ins.

lotta great names with 100-125 not in, surprised me.

yeah, i pulled up the list when you posted this thread to see where he fit in on the all-time list. There are a lot of great players over 100 that didn't get in.

my favorite name on the list of "not ins" is leslie oneal.

4 year stretch with 54 sacks. 13 year career, had fewer than 10 sacks only 5 times (one time being 9).

not in, should be. hes tied with lawrence taylor with 132.5 (tho LT didnt get credit for 9 his rookie year).

and if i recall, at the combine, he couldnt bench over 225 lbs.

This. Definitely a quality player, but at a Hall of Good level, not the HOF.

Nah. Not a HOF'er. Very good player who accumulated those numbers over a long period of time. However, he was never a force like a Julius Peppers or Jared Allen. Never was in the conversation as being the "most feared" pass rusher in the game.

I agree with other posters, jokes aside: Good pass rusher but really nothing but a one-trick pony and not a Hall of Fame player.
