Honestly without Valentine Iowa is the better team. They'll have more experience, the best player on the court and it's at home. I don't really even think it'll be all that close. Iowa by 8-10

That's probably true. Valentine is probably worth 6-7 points. Iowa is favored by 3.

Yep. The top 25-30 teams this year are all super close imo. All that said it's Iowa basketball so we will probably lead the entire game then lose it at the end lol

lol. It is one of the more mystifying things that Iowa has trouble closing games out given their senior leadership on the team. I remember that costing them some games last year as well.

Well it dates back as long as I can remember. As an Iowa fan the impending feeling of doom in EVERY close game is part of the fandom. We, as fans, KNOW that when that last second shot by an opponent goes up it is almost assuredly going in. Conversely the last second shot by Iowa is never going in. I think it dates to the 87 team blowing a 20 pt halftime lead vs UNLV in the E8. Iowa was the best team in the country that year. Its been karma downhill since

I also won't ever forget the game against Northwestern State. I think it was 2006? That was the best Iowa team in my lifetime(or at least to my memory). I also really enjoyed the 1999 Iowa team. To bad they ran into the eventual national champs in the S16. Really liked watching them on offense, at that time, it seemed so unconventional. Dean Oliver was fun to watch.

I know the feeling of tourney heartbreak with a top tier roster. Just never truly leaves your mind lol.

What does that feeling feel like? :noidea:

I've gotten a glimpse, but only because of cheating...:L

Haha so true.

But I'll tell you it's pretty similar. A lot of what ifs and painful memories lol.

Iowa 69
Michigan State 54 late in the 2nd half

Michigan State looking bamboozled by Iowa's wutang style. I don't think Iowa's choking this one away.

CBB is just weak this year and has been for a while now.

Go look at some of the great teams from the late 90s, early 2000s, Valentine is a POY candidate this year and wouldn't be a major contributor on a lot of those teams.

Yeah...no. You're just a bitter and envious U of M fan. Valentine is a top POY for justified reasons.

Yeah. yes. Look at some of those teams. Absolutely loaded. Valentine would've been a bit player on many of those UConn and Duke teams back in the day. Or the Mid 2000s Florida and Carolina teams.

kinda sorta doubt Iowa will be favored when they visit E. Lansing for a rematch in 2 weeks, DEPT...

:noidea: of the night was hearing the classless Carver crowd chant "OVER-RATED" one minute and then watching them storm the court after winning a game Iowa was favored to win.

He's right. The top this year is extremely weak. I mean hell just compare it to last year. But he's definitely right when comparing to the 90's and early 2000's. Alot of that has to do with the mass defections from last year and the Freshman class being one of the weakest in recent memory. I will say though Valentine has been tremendous thus far.

He's full of shit...
and, unless/until you support your subjective assessments (which he never does) regarding overall & individual contemporary CBB programs' strengths/weaknesses compared to some assumed "golden age" of college hoops (why only the 90s and 2000s mentioned? no 70s & 80s?) with outside objectivivity (ie: facts, expertise, history)...
You're full of shit too.
