Depth guy probably to rotate with Vinny Curry. Had 4 sacks last season which sadly almost doubled Curry's output.

Eagles official statement - 2 year deal. I like it (so far). He can compete for the DE position opposite Graham, v.s Smith and Curry.

Doesn't necessarily mean we won't, but it certainly decreases the odds or maybe they like the depth later on in the draft. I believe they signed him for his value in the locker room just as much as any other reason.

Good signing. We have truly lacked good vets and leadership in the lockerroom for our rookies to learn under. Cheap, and solid rotation.

I wished it meant there is a lower chance we go DE/DT in the 1st round - but I don't think it does. It was just a good value signing, and a good guy.

Well, since reporters think they will go DE/EDGE or CB in the 1st round, adding Long may ensure that we will be OK at DE, and add one later. that's all.

Disagree. I think he'll be better than some of the other options, or light a fire under Curry/Smith.

Long and the corner they signed, Patrick Robinson, both are meh moves IMO. But I think Howie is trying to get some veteran insurance at certain positions, just in case he can't fill some of the obvious holes in the draft they way he hopes to do.

Of the two, at least Long was a good player at one point. Robinson has done nothing in his pro career. He is a step down from McKelvin if you can believe it.

I didn't see any statements regarding these cats as future building blocks. we need depth.
