Eagles re-signed LE Cedric Thornton to a one-year, $2.52 million contract.
It's Thornton's restricted free agent tender. There had been chatter that Thornton would be signed to a long-term deal, but that could be off the table for now. A two-down thumper, Thornton turns 27 in June. Apr 13 - 4:38 PM

I like Thornton he is a solid run stopper.

If the Eagles had their secondary solidified, then I think they would look to find a stud to replace Thornton. But, he is not a weak spot on the line, and is very competent. Good character too.

Yea, I suspect that over time they will replace him as a starter in favor of someone who can rush the passer as well as play the run. But for now, solid complimentary player. He is an unsung hero in a sense because he allowed the Eagles to shift to a 3-4 without missing a beat.

They have no room to sign anyone to a long-term contract at the moment.

Why do you think they've not signed Cox or Kendricks to long-term deals yet?

Are you saying the cap situation is maxed out?

I am not sure what it is, but if it is maxed out, that is a huge problem given that Kendricks and Cox need to be signed to long term deals.

They have an option on Cox so he isn't really an issue this year.

They will resign Cox before the end of next season. Unless, of course, Chip needs to package him and picks to get MM. I hope not because he is an all-pro, even though he didn't get the votes last season.

No big deal on the cap. When (if) it gets unworkable Howie will tell Chip what his options are to fix it and Chip will pick one. No problem.
