Funny how not long ago there was a thread criticizing KD for shooting too much and not being able to carry the Thunder in Westbrook's absence. I think one poster even made the claim that Westbrook was more important to the Thunder's success than KD. I had to laugh. 9-5 now and rolling. Dude is a bad man no doubt.

"Bad" as in 'bad news for the opposition," right?

Someday I might get used to that bit of slang but it hasn't happened yet.

That slang has been around since MJ probably before...how long does it take you to adjust to new things? :D

Posting H2H stats is kind of silly. First, it's a team game and these guys aren't playing one on one. Second, not sure how much these guys are guarding each other during a game. I suspect Lebron spends more time guarding KD than the opposite.

I thought KD couldn't get it done without Westbrook Bot?

I'm an OKC native though I haven't been back there in a very long time.

Off what I've seen on NBA League Pass I'd say Ibaka and Sefolosha both rate more credit than Westbrook.
One more example of rebounders and defensive specialists getting less credit from the general public than I think they deserve.

It's not even remotely common in any of the neighborhoods I've actually lived in. If it were you're criticism would be more justified.

He's averaging something like 37 points this month.

Oh no no no, you obviously haven't watched them much. Westbrook is fully capable of completely carrying the team for stretches just like Durant. Sefolosha is a shell of his former self on both ends and Ibaka is still growing as a player. I will say that when Ibaka has a very good game they are nearly impossible to beat though.

I haven't watched them much this season because of a snafu on my NBA League Pass subscription.

Maybe Westwood is playing better this season than in earlier ones. I hope he is. That's all I'l lsay for now.

Interesting part of Ibaka's game is that he is down .5 blocks a game from last year but up 1.5 Defensive Rebounds a game. He is very close to being a 15pt, 10 Reb, 2.5 blocks a game guy and that is the guy they'll need when the playoffs role around

Durant is a MUCH BETTER OFFENSIVE PLAYER than Lebron. But make no mistakes, he's not even CLOSE to being a better all around player than Lebron.

People put too much stock in offensive numbers.....this is how you end up with Dirk and Nash winning MVPs when neither can play any defense whatsoever, and in Nash's case, never even SNIFF the Finals. This game is played on BOTH ends of the floor. Defense matters.

I've been a big fan of his since I first saw him years ago.

Did you know his nickname is I-Block-A? Very appropriate, IMO.

Well, of course. I just see a small decrease in blocks and a large increase in defensive rebounds as a sign that Ibaka is maturing and getting better. A rebound guarantees your team gets the ball. A block is less than a 50/50 proposition I bet

Good post, I disagree with the KD is a much better offensive player. His numbers would not even suggest he is as good of a scorer. He may be a better shooter but LBJs efficiency is far better because he does not take all those shitty shots every one marvels at KD and Melo for taking.

On the other hand a block may well demoralize the opposition more than a defensive rebound.

Blocks are more likely to come on short range seeming "gimmes" than defensive rebounds aren't they? .

This post is pretty spot on but Dirk deserves the credit he has gotten over the years. While bad at D, he wasn't the traffic cone that Steve Nash was on defense.
