anyone know what the last part of it means? The inter-locking fingers? Does it mean together? If I'm right, ducks on the pond means runners on base/scoring position/etc and the next guy is being called to clear the bases to get the run in, right?

Ducks on the pond goes back to the early 50's. It was first coined on TV by the late, great Dizzy Dean back in the early 50's. He usually used it when the bases were loaded....three ducks on the pond.

Yup. Josh explained it unknowingly in a post game interview after the ALCS win. At least I don't think he really meant to explain it. Just kinda happened in the course of the interview.

Good stuff fellas, thanks! Since, the Rangers do the sign as soon as someone gets on base (any base, even 1st), it must mean they're in scoring position right away - that's awesome!

"Ducks on the pond" ... runners on second and third ... or also when bases loaded.

If you're a duck hunter ... you don't shoot the ducks when they are sitting on the pond as it isn't fair. Hunters then flush them and have to use their skill to shoot them in the air. So when the runners are "ducks on the pond" means "flush" them and use their batting skill to bring them home.

Going off on a tangent, Ducks are really hard to shoot when they're on the water. A lot of times when you knock one down, if it isn't dead it will start swimming, and those suckers are tough.
