I'm sure his fans are thrilled that he's thinking long term.

“I’ve been managing myself pretty good,” Rose said. “I know a lot of people get mad when they see me sit out or whatever, but I think a lot of people don’t understand that … when I sit out, it’s not because of this year. I’m thinking about long term. I’m thinking about when I’m done with basketball, having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to. I don’t want to be in my meetings all sore or be at my son’s graduation all sore (years down the road) just because of something I did in the past, so it’s just learning and being smart.”

you never want to be sore at your sons graduation even though somebody paid you 100 million to play for them. We must keep our priorities straight!

He does realize he doesn't play football right?

I get an NFL player saying this but any other athlete except maybe a hockey saying this is BS.

NBA players are fine when they get older.

The guy is a bitch and that is all

Can't wait until Noah retires and writes a tell all book. He's going to vaporize Rose.

I wonder what meetings he plans on attending after his career is over. I'd pay to see bulls managements reaction to his comments. Sometimes you can say quotes were taken out of context. Well I watched the interview and it only makes the quotes sound even worse.

I must be the only one that sees this kids ego. First fucking preseason game he was going up to score over someone huge, I think it was Nene. Landed wrong a few times.

If this kid wants to play ball for 10 more years, he needs to change his game like his nutrition. He cannot have the ego to want to challenge every big man at the rim. Run the fucking offense, drive and dish to keep the defense honest, take your jumpers you worked so hard on and play a more conservative game and extend your career. Bulls are full of shooters now. There is no reason D Rose needs to challenge everyone at the rim 10 times a game risking injury anymore. Its just his ego.

Well and the fact that Thibbs expects him to attack all the time.

Dude. What meetings? Are you going to become a business man once you retire with your hundreds of millions of dollars?

Guaranteed contracts are fucking stupid. The NFL does their contracts right. Some guaranteed $$ and the rest is earned. Baseball and basketball is just robbery.

Football is robbery when you break it all down. Then again the risk of injury is significantly higher in the NFL.

This is not going over well with the blue collars workers of Chicago.

If you don't want to risk being sore and having long-term health effects from a career of basketball, to the point that you ask to sit out games when you are feeling sore or less than 100%.... then DON'T BE A PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYER. Don't sign a multi million dollar contract saying you'll play basketball for a franchise.

Its one thing to sit out games now and then for the benefit of the team, for the long term success of the team. But to sit it out for your own future comfort when there's no legitimate injury concerns... that's just unethical and pathetic.

He has every right to protect his body and chose not to participate in elite-level basketball... but the path to that choice is quitting the NBA.

Jordan made 25 million his last year with the bulls. Heard his fortune was changed to billions with help of warren buffett. There are plenty of meetings Jordan is staggering into, but bottom line, at 45 you have knee and hip replacements and the pain goes away.

Neither of those percentages swing in his favor.

I'll be listening to Boers and Bernstein later, I'm sure Bernstein is going to have a field day

Reggie and BJ seem to be the driving force behind all of Derrick's bullshit since his 1st major injury.
