Yes definitely a game of chicken that could easily backfire. I would think Texas is a favorable place to sign due to current MILB talent. Would help if we had a reputation for signing FAs. For some the most state income tax should make the value of any contract higher

That money argument is being used, but the same folks using it would say money is always a factor for major league free agents. Gallo has said money isn't the factor in him getting extended here and no one believes that. Lol,

There are rumors, but I have still not read a direct quote. Think of all the trade rumors we hear that never prove true. Also, the Red Sox could be inventing those rumors hoping they stick and he falls to them.

Also heard draft was fairly deep so going under slot for early pick may net an overall better haul. Point is the best players are not always picked in order. What you are willing to sign for is a factor.

I don't care if we can't sign two picks between 6 and 10 as long as our top 3 picks are the best available.

To me, they don't have to pick Leiter to satisfy me. They don't have to pick Rocker to satisfy me. They don't have to pick Davis to satisfy me. But, they need to pick one of those three to satisfy me.

Point at hand is would you or most folks want to draft a player that high if you knew he was not interested in your organization.
Because you have not read a direct quote does not mean there is not one. Something got this stirred up.
