The man married his high school sweetheart, at home plate, before a minor league game. Baseball was in the mans blood. Thoughts go out to his family and his widow, Jean.

Likewise. Very sad day for MLB. I always liked this guy. He was very passionate about the game and dedicated his life to it. I'm happy he was a Yankee. This is my fav quote from Zimm:

What you lack in talent can be made up with desire, hustle and giving 110 percent all the time.

He's the first manager I remember... And part of the reason i love baseball...

He had a loaded team back then. Funny to think that Boston won 97 games in 1976 and 99 in 1978 - and missed the playoffs.... Bucky. Fucking. Dent... Imagine if the Sox won that game?
