They aren't supposed to as it will screw up their (former) schools APR, but as mentioned above, some kids do anyway. Part of the risk of going after one-and-done guys. Are they the sort that will screw you over as soon as they get the chance to leave or are they the type to at least fulfill their obligation through 2 semesters? Better hope it's the latter because if you get too many of the former, you're going to be missing the post season a lot.

They sort of have to go into full-time prepare for the combine, workouts, and draft mode... unless they're a sure-fire lottery pick, it would be dumb not to.

I know Rondae Hollis-Jefferson from Arizona said that he would be leaving the state right away but that he was going to be able to finish up the semester online.

Most of these kids have academic tutors and a different schedule than a regular student. Many of them finished their academic requirements for the semester almost a month ago.

Yeah these student athletes have different rules. How else do you explain the students getting time off school for road games during the season?

Yeah, when I went to college a bunch of years ago every single student had to take English 101. English 101 was only taught by Graduate Assistants, because no professor would put up with it. It was only offered as a Monday, Wednesday, Friday class (so you couldn't schedule Fridays off). And it was only offered with a start time before 10 am. You could miss class twice with no problems, but if you missed it three times in one semester, even if it was excused absences, your grade went down a full letter. Miss a 4th class and you lost another letter, miss 5 and you automatically failed the class. I talked to a counselor or whatever they're called and told her I worked 3rd shift and wanted to try and get a later start time. She said no exceptions. Never student had to do it. I went to another counselor and told her my mom was sick so I was taking care of her at home and commuting Tuesday and Thursdays, and wondered if I could take the class that day. She said no exceptions every student had to do it.

Except athletes of course.
