Got to add Paul Brown to the table, even if its only for an after dinner cocktail. The man was a legend. He coached many great teams on so many levels.
I got to have dinner with Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer among others...unfortunately it was at TO's retirement dinner and there were 500 other people there, but still
Knute Rockne would be an obvious choice for me. Great, inovative coach, and also a chemistry instructor. Frank Leahy would also be an obvious choice - it would be interesting to get his take on the difference between coaching men returning from WWII and kids fresh out of high school. Bob Ladouceur and Jim Butterfield would round out my list. I think the best coaches in the game are the guys at the high school level and the lower divisions. Bob Ladouceur made his career setting a record for consecutive wins at De La Salle High School, and Jim Butterfield won a couple of DIII championships at Ithaca College. both would have some interesting insights I think.
