I'm not complaining but I'm extremely surprised. we have a good loss but the schedule hasn't been as difficult as expected. they have looked pretty awful on the road

Yeah - nice to be ranked and all. But there is far too much football to be played to worry about rankings. They need to focus on what it takes to play solid football rather than what it takes to get a lot of press clippings.

You might be severely disappointed. Any Big 12 team that wins out will pass you. Same for Michigan State or Iowa and maybe Memphis.
In reality though you are second after Bama in the 1 loss teams (no blue blood bias there) and it will be impossibly hard for that many teams to get through unscathed. You need help but aren't in a bad spot.
