Im not a big Diaco fan but it would hurt to lose your OC and DC.

I am all for Diaco gone. He's simply replaceable. Not worried a bit about either co-ordinator, that's just me. I am certain others will feel differently but I was never impressed with Diaco.

I would hate to lose both in the same season, but I guess it depends on who they can get to replace them if Diaco leaves.

I feel Diaco is very over rated. He had a lot of talent on this D this year and didn't do much with it until the end of the year.

No loss in my opinion. Thought he was a good coach but this year's defense makes me highly question that. lost the offensive and defensive coordinator. Can we please lose the special teams coach via firing him?

If it happens I only worry about recruiting.

Don't be. I've heard that he hasn't been pulling his weight in this dept. Cooks and Elston are doing most of the heavy lifting on defensive recruiting.

I am not sure why he would leave would he not be next in line for ND job if Kelly would leave.

I doubt he would get the job right now if Kelly walked away.

:agree: I think ND would be very skiddish to hire someone without significant head coaching experience at either the college or pro level, unless it is a very well established or experienced OC or DC, Diaco doesn't fit that mold. He's pretty young and I think he'd have to prove himself in the driver's seat before he could win that over. He's really barely done a satisfactory job in his current role.

Last time we promoted from within was Davie, and we all know how that turned out.

Diaco could take over but I just don't see them hiring a guy with no head coaching experience.

I agree with this. I have to say I was a lot more worried about losing Diaco a year ago at this time. While I still like him, it's not quite at the level it was last year.

I might be the only one really hoping he stays. He might not be the ROCK we all thought he was last year, but he has brought a real defense to ND that we have not had in over a decade (In my humble opinion). We have had players (Zibby, Laws, etc.) but not a complete defense, until this regime came in to South Bend.

I would have to agree Thunder this is the first real defense they have had in long time, and it was unrealistic to expect the team to be as good on that side of the ball as last year after losing so many leaders at each level of the defense. I expected them to take a step back even though the talent level may not have dropped off that much if at all in some cases.

Looking like its a done deal Diaco to UConn. Being reported by Conn reporters. Narduzzi turned them down. We'll see what Kelly does. Two new coordinators. Got his work cut out for him.
