he did try. Glad he's getting out before he really gets his noodle severely damaged.

Guess you need to change that Charlie Strong quote.

Seriously though. I'm glad he's doing the right thing. He has a whole life ahead of him.

I've been waiting for the announcement. Glad he took the smart road with this decision. He's doing the best thing for himself in the long run even though it's got to suck in the now.

Good decision. Concussions are nothing to mess with.

Dont get it. You mean, since he cant play anymore, he's soft?

This is good news for Ash. He seems like a smart kid with a bright future.

He was a very good quarterback that was snake-bitten by bad luck injuries and hampered by Mack Brown's affinity with little McCoy.

In the bowl wins versus Cal and Oregon he showed why Texas was so enthusiastic the corner had been turned.

The brain.

well, okay. But still not changing the sig yet. At least until I find another one, or events prove he cant get it done.

Ash is a good guy, glad I dont have to cringe every time he gets hit anymore.

Being soft is completely different from being legitimately injured.

Multiple Concussions are not a joke. Nobody wants to be 50 years old and essentially an invalid in a dark room like some of the horror stories we learn from concussion based issues.

If someone walks away because of Concussions, the word "soft" is the last thing to call them.

I had a friend who had several concussions during his younger days and 15 years later he told me he couldn't keep things straight in his head, he had hellish headaches and he sometimes felt like he was "in another dimension". But the worst part according to him was the days he simply didn't have the mental energy to do his job. He went to the doctor a couple of times but there wasn't anything they could do for him. He committed suicide at 41. I know it was the concussions.

We are just learning about the long term effects of these head injuries. Hate it for this young man but lets hope that this decision helps him to see his children grow up some day and keeps him in good health.

Good for Ash. He's a great kid with a great future ahead of him. Some wealthy UT alum will hire him and pay him $200K a year just to run the company flag football team.
